Rocking cool girl status and a major love of accessories since the early ‘80s. Or, as noted by this week’s edit, cool girl status is totally relative.
In the eternally relevant words of Cher, if I could turn back time…I often look back at my younger years with a little bit of cringing, a lot of sympathy, and a ton of if I only knew. Inspired by The Dreslyn’s new series, A Letter to my Younger Self, tell that crazy little girl that she is awesome, even if no one else knows it yet.
Fashion is cyclical, evidenced by the constant re-hashing of decades from the 20s and through the 90s. Yes people, I spotted scrunchies in American Appparel a few years ago and almost choked. Fashion was somewhat slow to jump on the social media craze, protective of their cool, insiders only vibe. Accounts like DKNYPRGirl and OscarPRGirl revolutionized fashion on social media, while also making those “PRGirls” household names in fashion. But again, as everything changes, that too has come to an end as DKNYPRGirl’s Twitter account has officially retired.
